It is most rewarding when the client can actually avoid surgery, as the muscles regain normal balance and strength due to the application of my technique. Significantly, I have found is that clients report that they are far less dependent on the use of pharmaceuticals. Please review the Testimonial Section about my clients' experience of my work.

Wiep Loves Challenges

“Sick muscle impacts the nervous, circulatory, skeletal, and neuro- endrocrine systems.”

– Thomas Griner

Muscles that are in spasm will be painful to the touch. The pain is caused by ischemic muscle tissue. Ischemia means the muscle is lacking proper blood flow, usually due to the muscle spasm.

This in turn creates the following undesirable process:

• Because the muscle is not receiving enough blood, the muscle is also not receiving enough oxygen

• The lack of oxygen causes the muscle to produce lactic acid and other metabolic waste products

• The lactic acid makes the muscle feel sore and weak following physical activity.

• The accumulation of waste products in the muscle causes over-contraction.

• Chronic over-contraction causes hardening of muscles. The pain that follows is due to the nerve entrapment and the irritation of adjacent tissues caused by the hardened state of the muscle.

• This tissue and nerve irritation make the body excrete endorphins – the body’s natural pain killers – so that the level of sensitivity is lowered in the body. This means that the irritation and breakdown in tissues can worsen, while the pain level stays tolerable.

Many of the symptoms that we may experience, like skeletal, circulatory, nerve, or inflammatory distress usually begin with hypertonic muscle spasm, a condition caused by the interruption of nerve feedback loops between muscle and brain. The brain receives a weakened signal from an over-contracted muscle and will in turn, send a message for the muscle to contract more strongly. Finally, muscles will be unable to fully relax.

What Happens When We Have Muscle Pain?

What is Reconstructive Muscle Therapy?

Muscle Health’s practice with both adults and children is focused on reducing the level of pain, improving the range of mobility and enhancing circulation and oxygenation.

The Reconstructive Muscle Therapy technique is based upon the revolutionary and insightful book by Thomas Griner: "What’s Really Wrong with You? A Revolutionary Look At How Muscles Affect Your Health" (Penguin/Putnam.) His teachings have greatly influenced Wiep’s entire approach to the issues one can have with posture, injuries, pain and general health challenges.

This remarkable soft tissue technique consists of a cross-fiber fingertip massage technique in combination with the application of Griner's percussor tool, called the Biopulser (www.biopulser.com).

Years of muscle research and myotherapy have led Dr. Thomas Griner to establish this technique and the BioPulser. The BioPulser works by producing a pulsing action instead of a vibration. The percussor stimulation reaches deep into the muscle tissue to restore healthy muscle tone and nerve function. The stimulation provided is fully absorbed and assimilated by the nervous system. It is a comfortable and effective treatment.

Wiep identifies and rectifies the primary problem and underlying dysfunction first, in order to re-establish an immediate reduction of pain. After the main muscles, that are at the root of the pain pattern are released and relaxed through Wiep's therapy, lactic acid and other metabolic waste products will start to drain from the muscles. Now blood flow and oxygen levels will gradually normalize. The technique also re-establishes healthy communication between the muscle and the brain by normalizing the level of sensitivity in the nerve feedback loop from the muscle to the cerebellum. Then a deeper level of healing can be re-established and the body will self-correct the existing pattern of hypertonic muscle spasms.

This action of breaking up and eliminating toxic build up from the muscles (detoxifying) can be a bit painful at times, but definitively affects the entire body by boosting the immune system. The work will eventually increase tissue sensitivity and lessen the irritation and after the first one to three treatments the client may feel tenderness at localized spots for a couple of days after the treatment. After this initial phase, the treatment brings clients into increasingly deeper levels of relaxation and healing.

Wiep’s treatment, along with the muscular system, the skin, circulatory, skeletal, nervous, digestive, respiratory and excretory systems of the body are being stimulated and their functions enhanced. In Wiep’s work the lympathic system is greatly activated as well, and any prior swelling and tissue congestion usually dissipates.

This particular type of massage offers rapid relief from back ache, headache, vertigo, TMJ, sinus pain, stiff neck, thyroid conditions with lymphatic congestion, shoulder tension, tennis elbow, sore knees, hip pain, poor circulation, muscle weakness, fibromyalgia, post- surgery adhesions, cellulite, sports strains, cramps and PMS, allergies, asthma and many other conditions!

Reconstructive Muscle Therapy has frequently proven to be a profound alternative to pain killers and even surgery. Many cosmetic challenges can also be successfully treated with this non-invasive approach.

Reconstructive Muscle Therapy is an extraordinary healing technique, that when applied in combination with customized complimentary healthcare approaches, can offer clients the keys to optimal health.
